As a child, my favorite part during the school day was story time. My teachers would be so into the book it felt like our class was apart of it! As an adult and previous daycare teacher, I loved reading to my classes- infants to toddlers. The touch and feel books are my favorite for infants. I loved seeing their reaction to the feeling of the different materials.
Hi there, I’m Gina. As an Omaha professional, mother, and dedicated volunteer to literacy efforts, I’ve spent the past several years championing literacy through the Literacy Center, which is focused on building literacy skills for adults. I recently started working with DIBS, so you’ll be hearing more from me later on.
DIBS for Kids is a literacy nonprofit founded by a former first grade teacher. We believe every student should have a great book to read at home every night, regardless of family income.
With our classroom-based libraries, we support teachers to send books home with students in a hands-off way. With our student-led technology, we aim to make reading the most fun thing our students do every evening.
